Below is the Kiwi Experience bus on its top at Redwoods - the famous Whakarewarewa forest with thousands of tall redwoods enveloping the area. This is a great place for MTB, walking and jogging. A family friendly destination as well. Giftshops and food stalls are available just in case you get hungry after going on one of its tracks.
The green and blue lakes are next to each other. This attraction is 10 minutes drive from the Redwoods.
There is an elevated area that tourists can stop by and see the 2 lakes side by side - one is blue and one is emerald green.
Tikitapu Blue Lake
- turquoise blue due to reflection from white rhyolite and pumice bottom
Lake Rotokakahi or Green Lake Named for its abundance of kakahi (freshwater mussels), it flows to Lake Tarawera via the Te Wairoa waterfalls. From the air the lake looks emerald green due to its shallow, sandy bottom.
The Hamurana Springs below is a sight to remember.Pristine spring waters that just amaze every tourist who visit. The springs are also surrounded by magnificent Redwoods and located next to a golf course.
