“Best place we stayed at in our trip around NZ!”

We stayed here for 2 nights over the New Year 2012/3. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful; we only had to mention that we were planning to see a local attraction and they would produce a 10% discount voucher for us! The hotel itself is located about 20mins walk from the main shopping street where all the bars/restaurants are, but only 10mins walk from a major supermarket and food-hall. The rooms were large and spotless, and had all the usual amenities, including TV, fridge, coffee-making kit, etc. But what makes this hotel stand out is that it also has 2 pools; one is a small plunge pool filled with normal water, the second was a hot mineral pool straight from the volcanic depths (although a temp controller maintained the water temp at a steady 42C). These pools were open all night, so long as you were quiet so as not to disturb the neighbours. It was glorious to be able to go for a midnight dip in the hot spa bath, while looking at the stars. Our room also had a 'Tardis'-like shower/bath which operated as a normal showr,or as a massage shower with lots of showerheads running down the length of the cubicle, or as a whirlpool spa bath! It had a control panel like the cockpit of a 747. :) And there was free unlimited wifi. And this was all for the same low price as other motels in the area which didn't have these extras. This is an absolutely fantastic place to stay, and a real bargain for the price.
