Here's a great list of family attractions in Rotorua!
Buried Village
A place of exceptional beauty has been created around the fascinating remains of a settlement buried by the eruption of Mount Tarawera. Te Wairoa, before the eruption was the place from which visitors set out on guided tours to the world famous Pink and White Terraces. All this changed in the early hours of June 10 1886 when the mountain violently erupted destroying the terraces and the village.
Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
Thousands of years in the making, explore spectacular nature at New Zealand's most colourful natural volcanic area. Walk at your own pace past the unique volcanic features which include the Champagne Pool, hot springs, bubbling mud, steaming ground, expansive vistas, huge volcanic craters and sinter terrace formations. The natural bush setting adds another dimension to the experience as does the daily eruption of the Lady Knox Geyser at 10.15am to heights of up to 20 metres.
Rainbow Springs
Rainbow Springs is a place of learning and fun! A stunning kiwi wildlife park where you can get up close and personal with all of NZ's favourite native birds and lizards, including the kiwi and tuatara. Take a behind the scenes look at the kiwi conservation project where kiwi eggs are hatched. In early 2012, a free flight bird show will operate twice daily and "The Big Splash" - an interactive and highly themed water ride will open.
