The museum is in the old bath house, a beautiful building that houses a variety of interesting artefacts, and has 3 really good short movies. There is a café which is also a great place for lunch and to ponder over all the culture you have learned (Allow 2 hours without lunch).

Agrodome is an entertaining and educational experience, interesting for those budding farmers amongst you and especially educational for those that have never lived on a farm. Their dogs are just incredible. (Allow 90 mins for the show alone).

And there is always Rafting a good thing to do on a wet day, as you are going to get wet anyway!

And if that is not enough we can recommend a great shooting gallery too. One with a range of pistols and rifles to shoot with, and all at a very reasonable cost - important when you have a family to amuse. The owner is always on hand to help make sure you make the most of what is available. He is truly enthusiastic, and this is an opportunity for the men to show off their gun knowledge, and to instruct the young ones on what not to do. (Allow 30 – 90 mins)

For those with younger children there is Playtopia for children 1 to 12. Fun and adventure in this playground guaranteed. You can feed the kids with food bound to please, a great place to spend a couple of hours while Mum and Dad relax over a cup of coffee, and the kids can go off and have some fun whilst making new friends.

Spotlessly clean unit, BBQ also spotless, owners extremely friendly and helpful. Great value for money. Own proper thermal pool and small outdoor swimming pool which has no restrictions on time of use. Would definitely stay again if in rotorua.

We stayed here with our two children and were very happy, the rooms are spacious and very clean. The pool was a nice touch as well. The owners are very helpful and friendly. We will definitely make this our rotorua motel. Rooms are a little older but apart from that perfect.

This has been one of our best accommodations during our tour of NZ. Ron and Mairi were amazingly friendly and helpful hosts, arranging our Maori dinner tour and providing tons of information for all our outings. The internet was great and plentiful and free! The one bedroom apartment we had was well-stocked with everything needed, and we extended our stay because we were so comfortable. The apartment was cleaned everyday. Parking was easy and the best part was the very warm swimming pool plus the extra warm mineral spa, open til all hours of the night, which is nice!

MALFROY motor lodge Rotorua is a short walk from Kuirau Park where your family can see bubbling water, splashing mud, and lots of steam coming out of the ground – no entry costs. The park also has a small lake, a safe children’s play area, and has the room for older children to run around and play touch rugby, football / cricket. On the other side of the park you will find Ohinemutu village with its beautiful church by the lake.

MALFROY Rotorua is also a short walk from the main Shopping Mall where there is a good range of shops available, including a Countdown supermarket, Farmers, Rebel Sports, Warehouse, Briscoe’s, Post Office etc . On the other side of the Mall is the Town Centre itself where you will find a wide range of speciality stores, restaurants, pubs, and a number of excellent Cafes serving good food at reasonable prices – as well as fine dining and a number of family friendly establishments.

MALFROY motor lodge's larger apartments are well set up providing a full kitchen with a free standing oven, extractor fan, microwave, fridge with small freezer, pots, pans, bowls, kitchen equipment, and cutlery, crockery and glassware for 6 people. They are great in the cooler months too, as they are all centrally heated by our own geo-thermal bore – which is working 7 x 24 x 365 to bring hot water up from 130 metres down.

MALFROY motor lodge's 2 Bedroom Apartments are set around our courtyard area, which in summer is quite a sun trap. All apartments have outside table and chairs, and in the evenings the parents can sit, relax and get to know each other – over a glass of something cold shaded by our fantastic Indian Bean Tree.

For families of younger children, we also have a play area over by the office that comes with a climbing tower, fireman’s pole, slide, swings, and a play house. Young at heart adults can also have a swing if they wish.
